What an incredible day yesterday was! Somehow getting through the logistics of transporting 19 people, luggage, musical gear and food for an army in only three vehicles, we arrived in Springfield with a couple of hours to spare before setting up for the Synod Assembly's opening session.
In a nutshell, the presentation went great. Pastor Robin Morgan had a few opening statements and then read scripture from Galatians 3. (This was the scriptural text chosen by the Synod Assembly planning team for the entire event.) The FP Choir did two songs and "rocked the crowd". I said a few words regarding the themes that became apparent to the FP leadership over these past few months and then introduced the video "I Need You, You Need Me" -- that video is available for viewing from the FP website -- and again kudos to Jim Brockelmeyer for shooting, editing and rendering the video. FP ended its session with Oliver picking up the music live -- layering on top of the video's soundtrack -- and some FP'ers sang while other FP'ers distributed the brochure and pledge cards to the Assembly.
More details to follow about the Thursday presentation, as we have time to write about it. One poignant thought shared by Robin and myself: the FP community got the best possible "product" given the amount of time we had available to invest in it. We absolutely did the best we could do. It's a great feeling, or at least it will be once we've returned to St. Louis and had a chance to catch our collective breaths and reflect.
For now, we still have two workshops to lead on Saturday about beginning a new ministry -- and the FP Choir is to provide music at the beginning of the Area 10 Ministry meeting.
It's been a great couple of days. Many thanks to all of our supporters for all of your help!
Peace and Joy!

Wow -- the day is finally here! The opening worship for this year's ELCA Central States Synod annual assembly is just hours away. Faith Place hosted an extremely joy-filled uplifting worship service last night in anticipation of this weekend's Synod Assembly events.
And this morning, Faith Place unwraps its website, complete with the new video "I Need You, You Need Me". In case the hyperlink does not work for you, the address is http://www.faith-place.org
Blessings and kudos to all who put in many hours preparing for Synod Assembly!

Faith Place Website Up (and Crawling)...
Check out www.faith-place.org!
The new website is here! The new website is here! (Extra points to anyone who can name this paraphrase...)
The only thing there is a "placeholder" to show that the domain name and URL work -- look for significant developments in preparation for the official launch at Synod Assembly (22 April)!

Faith Place / Emmaus Negotiations
The first formal negotiating session between Faith Place and Emmaus Church for the lease and purchase option of the Emmaus School Building took place today from 2:00 - 4:45.
Whereas an agreement in principle was not reached, significant progress was made with respect to both sides understanding each other's intentions.
Another session has been scheduled for Tuesday, 30 March, at 6:30 pm.

Faith Place Overview Presentation at Bethel's Adult Education Hour
Board Member Gail Pipal, Youth Outreach Counselor Ladora Boyd, and President Sherman Lee led an hour of presentation and questions and answers about Faith Place to about 30-40 folks. Gail gave a chronological recap, Ladora gave her "slice of daily life at Faith Place" perspective, and all three fielded questions ranging from how many children have been baptized to what is the legal status of Faith Place.
Presentations included the "It's About Life" slideshow with recorded narration by Faith Place Founder and Director, Pastor Robin Morgan. Another video presentation included 10 minutes of footage from the previous week's worship service. Among the songs were "Be Glorified", a Gospel Acclamation, and "God Hears Me When I Pray".
There was much interest from the audience -- questions, volunteers and donations -- with donations being earmarked for musical funding.

Faith Place Choir at Bethel Lutheran Church in University City, MO
The Holy Spirit works in wondrous ways -- for Faith Place this was first opportunity to take its choir on the road, part of the preparation before the Central States Synod (of the ELCA) annual Assembly to take place in April. It was also part one of two visits to Bethel in University City. Part two will take place on 3/14 -- an overview presentation of the Good News being spread at Faith Place.
For Bethel, this was a ministerial and musical treat. There's something special about seeing children work together, and in particular for the purpose of worshiping God. There were about 15-20 singers from Faith Place, 6 singers and 3 musicians from the Bethel Worship Band, all under the direction of Faith Place Choir Director Oliver Grant. Pastor Robin Morgan gave a marvelous, Christ-filled sermon. Response from the over 100 in attendance was very positive about this morning's worship experience.
(This particular service is called Center Celebration at Bethel -- it occurs on the first Sunday of each month at 9:30 between the early and late services, taking the place of the Sunday School / Bible Class hour on that Sunday. This special service enables the congregation to have a special focus -- this month on Faith Place -- each month. The previous month of February focused on Ed and Marie Schroeder's Singaporan and Asian mission work.)
More details to follow -- and hopefully MP3 files of the audio recording of the service. This will include a few songs and Pastor Robin's sermon as well.
